Every band asks the same question. "How should I go about creating a website?" Your own web presence is possibly the most important aspect of marketing your band. Although this is not the only way to create a website, this is the way I have gone about creating my band's website.
First off, find a reliable, inexpensive webhost. After thoroughly searching, I decided on JustHost, due to the good reviews and cheap startup costs associated with it. On top of that, the features list included everything I could ever foresee myself needing, including ad credits, unlimited bandwidth, and free domain name. Other good choices include HostGator and HostMonster, both of which include the same basic features as JustHost.

I'm not going to walk you through the registration process, but after you register, begin to think about how you want your site setup. After some browsing, I decided that I would make my band's website using Wordpress, a popular blogging software. Of course, my site isn't simply a blog, but Wordpress includes the Plugins feature and Pages, which together allow you to make the site however you want. Think: Firefox for website creation. There is a limitless amount of software that can be used, such as PHP-Nuke or Joomla. This is just my preferred method.
Now, browse the Wordpress website, and find a theme and some plugins. The theme is entirely subjective, but as far as plugins go, I would recommend Contact Form 7, WP Double Opt-In List Management, WP e-Commerce, and GigPress. Once again, you can research more on your own, and even find alternatives to these.
Now, your website is complete. However, there is still a long road ahead of you. Now, you must promote your website, which is not included in the scope of this article.
