Sharepoint Services - Is it Cost Effective?

In the business world everything is placed into 2 categories. Cost effective or not cost effective. I think it is important to clarify what the term cost effective means from a business perspective.

Something that is cost effective produces a greater result than the cost requirements. In my opinion this is a fairly decent definition of the term cost effective.

So, how can Sharepoint services be cost effective if it does not directly produce a return?

Well, let's take a look at this, shall we?

What SP Does NOT Do

o It does not produce a return on investment
o It does not deliver a direct financial benefit
o It does not produce numbers that show it being cost effective

What SP Does Do

o It eliminates dysfunctional calendar setting
o It eliminates unclear task assignment
o It eliminates tedious document attachment emailing
o It creates clear and effective communication between co-workers and team members
o It acts as an online meeting platform

Now, given the facts listed above, I think that we can draw a clear conclusion about how cost effective Sharepoint services is.

Grant it, SP does not produce a direct financial return, it does allow for your team to work in a much more clear and effective manner. This means less human errors, less mistakes, less time spent on things that do not make you money. So, what this means is that in effect SP actually does provide a great ROI (return on investment).

That is the conclusion that I have reached over the last few months of use. I hope that this snip it of information was useful.
